Rocky Mount’s annual Court Days festival hearkens back to the 1800s when citizens gathered to buy and sell goods, socialize, conduct legal transactions and hear court cases. During the Court Days celebration on June 9, the library’s Main Branch will become a whodunit scene when a beloved book vanishes from its collection, launching an investigation and trial.
The book, More Than Anything Else, is about Booker T. Washington’s quest to learn to read and write. “The Case of the Missing Book: A Mock Trial” will feature a dramatic skit, storytelling, singing, banjo playing and craft making.
With three showings on the hour from 2-5PM, our family friendly mock trials will star members of our community!
Kicking off the mock trials will be a 1PM concert by the Youth String Ensemble of the Blue Ridge Performing Arts Academy. Comprised of students from Franklin County High School, the ensemble will perform short works of classical music.
The library’s Court Days events are free. No reservations needed.
